Bathing Your Newborn

Give a daily sponge bath using a mild, hypoallergenic soap until the cord is off and the circumcision is healed (if applicable). Special attention should be given to creases and spaces between fingers and toes and behind the ears and neckline. Baby lotion may be used sparingly on dry or cracked skin. Unscented lotions are less irritating to newborn skin (example: eucerin or aquaphor).
